2 Positive Work Readiness Skills
1) I was very dedicated. I came as many days as I could, of course I had to leave early to go to my Monday classes at MCOE or for work on Fridays, but other than that I went everyday from 9-4 or sometimes earlier. I followed the rules very well too, since I'm working with kids, it's important to give them side hugs only because it can give people the wrong idea. At times it would get hard to cause the kids would be running towards you at full speed with a full on frontal hug, but I would just give them a one-armed hug. I learned that working with kids can be rewarding, but tricky at the same time too.
2) I was very professional. The dress code is pretty simple, the interns have to wear this bright neon orange shirt every time we show up. We can wear shorts, but of course, they can't be too short. Open toed-shoes aren't allowed because there's a lot of running and walking involved, so I just wear athletic shoes. I would come to my intern clean everyday with little to no makeup, but a lot of sunscreen and my hair tied up and out of my face. I would always show up early, between 15-30 minutes early. It's nice to show up early cause there are kids who get dropped off early so I can just play with them like I normally would. There's also a sign-in sheet that all interns are required to fill out so I fill that out right when I get in and fill out my own as well, then I do the same thing after the end of my day. Lastly, if there's any day I can't show up or if I have to leave early, I always let my supervisor know. I learned that being professional for a job like this is very key because it would set a good examples for kids who may look up to me and my supervisor can trust me more since I'm keeping her up-to-date.
1 Area of Growth
1) So far I've been pretty good with all of my readiness skills, I haven't noticed any that I needed to work on.

Work Readiness Skills used at my Internship
Week 2- Work Readiness Skills
Examples of work readiness skills during my internship:
I was tolerant and respectful- From the first day of my internship, I have been exceptionally respectful and tolerant toward everyone that I have had to work with at any time. I have especially been patient with the kids that I have been working with these past days. I have found that with being patient, I am able to have the children listen to me more, and have them follow directions prominently. It also allows me to be receptive to things that need to be done or what I can do better. This has led to more productive and useful time during my internship.
I was professional- So far, for everyday of my internship, I have arrived not only on time, but about 10 minutes or so earlier. I have also been dressed professionally, in clothes that are comfortable, however, at the same time are appropriate and pertinent to my internship.
Work readiness skills to improve during my internship:
Can communicate effectively- I think that I wasn't communicating as much as I could have with the instructors present at my internship. I believe that although I did communicate and interact with them, I can improve by talking to them even more and letting them be aware of other things that could hellp all us improve at what we do.

Lydia's Goals, Habits, and Allies
Goals:
My current goal is to put my work before my social life and stop procrastinating. Usually, after school or work, i will go straight to hang out with my friends, and when I get home really late, I will stay up all night doing my homework. I want to learn to put my work first, so instead of going to see my friends first, I would do my work first.
My future goal is to get straight A's throughout high school, so that I can attend Stanford Law.
Habits:
Some good habits that I have is that I always complete my work, even if I have to stay up all night doing it. A habit I hope to obtain is managing my time better, and learn to ignore my friends when they ask me to hang out if I haven't finished my work yet.
Allies:
Currently my allies are my friends and my brother-in-law. I only make friends with people who also get straight A's, so we work together to make sure everyone in our group has our work done. Some future allies I would like to have are teachers I may have, so that they can help me reach my potential goals.

Week 2 Blog Post: PaperSeed Goals
1. I was professional. I showed up 15 minutes early (avoiding absenteeism). I had taken a shower and my hair was brushed and clipped back. I wore a satin blouse with a blazer and comfortable, professional shoes. I was clean and did not wear excessive amount of make-up. Only chap-stick and mascara. This was good because all the other women and men were dressed casually, but on the nicer, more put-together side of casual. Except the IT guy, he was sagging ripped jeans and had a huge beard, but a shaved head. It was an interesting look. I learned that looking nice builds confidence and made me feel like I fit in better with the work crowd.
2. I was dedicated. On Tuesday, I spent over three hours researching what it means to be a social media and marketing intern and what goals I have for my 6 week internship. I typed out a work plan and even though only two goals were required, I wrote out 8 just in case any goals were not acceptable or doable. I was also very literate, typing up and sending everything to Aliyya Shelley Mattos. She complimented my work and thanked me for creating clear and accessible goals. I am happy to say that I will be able to start actually completing the goals of a Social Media and Marketing Intern for PaperSeed Foundation this Thursday. I learned to continue to work hard on a project and to recheck everything you do because dedicated hard work pays off.
1 Area of Growth
1. I was not diligent. I forget to get my internship agreement signed. I even remembered to bring it to the CellMark Office. I am very forgetful and wish I was more organized and had remembered to get her to sign the paper. This is holding me back because I was supposed to turn the Internship agreement in on June 16th to my Liason. I will get it done this Thursday though, and I have written it down everywhere, so hopefully I will remember. I learned to focus and try not to be an air head.

Week #1 Post
Brett Jennings
Monday: 9am-12pm
Week 1 Blog Topic (post due by class time next week): Where are you now? What goals do you have for the upcoming school year? Who are your most important allies to reach your goals? What habits do you have, and do you need to build, in order to reach your goals?
Goals and Habits and Allies all together:
I am looking forward to constructing my college essays during this summer for the fall semester of my senior year. I want to stop showing up late to events, which I do a lot. I am tardy to a lot of places I go, and wish I could be more organized and on time. I am taking two college classes at College of Marin and taking four classes at my high school. I would like to improve on my organization system so I can be prepared for this coming school year. This coming fall semester I will be taking my first college classes ever: Introduction to Anthropology and Native American Literature. It will be good to have my teachers as my allies.

My most important allies I would say are my parents, who help me with any problems I face them with. My counselor at Tam, Alexandra Hunt, has provided sound advice and aided me in choosing classes for all my years in high school. My teachers have taught me and built efficiency and burning motivation. My friends have guided me and have allowed me to laugh and point fun at embarrassing and disappointing endeavors.
