Blog #4

~ The total of my future expenses each year are $68,710.  I know this is logical because my sources for information are:

  1. https://secure.californiacolleges.edu/Financial_Aid_Planning/Financial_Aid_101/how_much_does_college_cost.aspx
  2. http://interactive.taxfoundation.org/propertytax/
  3. http://thelawdictionary.org/article/how-much-does-health-insurance-cost-for-the-average-adult/
  4. http://salary.com/
~ According to salary.com I can likely count on making $77,258 each year in my future job as an ultrasound technologist or $197,711 each year in my future job as a pediatrician.  My education/training to get a job as an ultrasound technician or pediation will cost $110,224+

~ I want to save about $5,000 for my rainy day fund each year, and $6,000 for retirement each year.  If I save $6,000 for retirement each year, by the time I am 65 years old I will have $210,000 plus interest.

~ Comparing my future income and expenses makes me think that I need to be smart with my spending in order to be able to live a comfortable life in the future.

  1. There is a huge difference between the salary between your two jobs. It is important to weigh the cost of the education needed versus the time you will spend paying it off.

  2. Sounds like a good plan, but I do agree with Julian about the difference in salary. It will be interesting to see how this plan works out.
