Work Readiness Skills
- One work readiness skill that I possessed during my internship that supported success was my dedication to the task. I showed up willing to work and happy to follow the instruction that I was given. This dedication was shown in the form of my positive attitude and can do mind set when given tasks at my internship. This resulted in a positive relationship with my fellow employers and the kids at the camp.
- Another work readiness skill that I showed was professionalism. This was shown in my ability to show up on time, or even earlier, ready to work. I wore the appropriate attire that is required for an active YMCA camp and I practiced good hygiene. Overall this also increased my relationship with my co-workers and campers.
- My weakness is my ability to communicate with my coworkers. I feel that I haven't actually have too much trouble with this skill during my internship. It may hold me back in certain respects, for example whenever we have guest counselors come in I'm not sure whether or not I am supposed to help them out or not. I always do help, but I haven't communicated properly to find out what the actual situation is.
Hi Patrick, I think one of the things you can do to better your ability to communicate with your coworkers is just to ask them what they want you to do and whether or not they want you to help out.
